Yin Ke, a 22-year-old good-for-nothing who just graduated and can't find a job, is forced to seek help from a mysterious detective agency called Shadow Chasers after his younger sister, Yin Lin, vanishes under strange circumstances in Los Angeles. But then he discovers

1️⃣ Every member of the agency is a weirdo:

Zhong Heqiao (Lucas): A chilly elite, a Wall Street suit-wearing thug, a traitor to coffee purism, and capable of freezing penguins with a single look.

The other three (coming soon): All completely outrageous, yet so good at their jobs that you'd wonder if they were even human.

2️⃣ The more they investigate, the stranger things get:

Hidden among his sister's social media accounts is a platform called “BlindLoop,” where her username is “Deer in the Woods.” She never mentioned it.

Even stranger, his nemesis and neighbor, Zheng Xiya, registered on the bizarre platform even earlier than his sister, and then vanished without a trace.

Then a map marked with more than a dozen red dots across the United States is shoved in his face. This isn't an isolated case at all, but the beginning of an international conspiracy.

3️⃣ Yin Ke is forced to join Shadow Chasers as their errand mule:

He can't afford their astronomical consulting fees, is unemployed right after graduation, doesn't have the grades for grad school, and can't face his parents' disappointment.

He grits his teeth and signs a “contract of indentured servitude.” His hourly wage is minimum wage, and if his performance is poor, his deposit won't be refunded. Even ruthless capitalists would weep.

“So what's going on now?”

“My sister's missing, I've become the detective agency's cheap labor, and you're telling me this might be an international crime syndicate?”

“That's right.”

“…Can I get a raise?”

“No.”
