Detective Lu: My Transmigrated Girlfriend Is a Little Too Charming

Synopsis of *Officer Lu: My Transmigrated Girlfriend Is Quite the Charmer* The moment history graduate student Lin Wanxing opens her eyes, she has become Su Xiaomei, a temporary worker at a plastics factory in the 1990s. A human head rolling out of a cave in a mass grave brings her into the sights of Lu Jingyao, a handsome, roguish police detective. His uniform is rumpled, and he questions suspects with a cigarette between his lips. His sharp eyes can find traces of an old case in the lime dust left by a dog's paw prints, yet her remark, “The killer may be lying,” leaves him raising an eyebrow. The headless-body case leads to shady dealings at the plastics factory: Shanghai osmanthus-scented essence in the warehouse, red pine sawdust on a carpenter's hammer, and the bruises accountant Meng Lan tries to hide... He complains that a “temporary worker should mind her own business,” yet whenever she's pushed aside, he just happens to show up with candy to bail her out. She laughs that he “solves cases by guessing,” but in the notebook where he's trying to clear his father's name, she sees the stubbornness beneath his roguish exterior. The kind of affection ration coupons can't buy is hidden in the bumpy ride on the back of a 28-inch roadster. In an age without DNA testing, he uses his badge to shield her from a swinging shovel. From a cave-side brush with death to a standoff in a mine, from the distance of sitting at separate cafeteria tables to the charged intimacy of sharing an umbrella, she teaches him to trap criminals with a chain of logic, while he teaches her to put down roots amid the everyday bustle of the 1990s. When Shen Zhiqiang's hypocrisy is laid bare and the injustice against Lu's father is finally overturned, the mists lift. Gripping her hand at the factory gates, red in the setting sun, he smiles. “Su Xiaomei, wherever you came from, I'm holding on to you for the rest of my life.” This is a 1990s manhunt, and a sweet romance between a roguishly handsome detective and his transmigrated girlfriend. Case files may fade, but the heartbeat beneath his badge and the starlight in her eyes will burn bright forever.
