The Nonhuman Boy at No. 2 High School

Xie Xiaoqi, male, sixteen, is an average student, so he gets into Hongshui City No. 2 High School. He has a secret no one else knows: his eyes are different from ordinary people's. He can see through illusions and spot things invisible to everyone else. Xie Xiaoqi thinks he has yin-yang eyes, but his con-artist uncle, Li Tang, tells him there is more to his eyes than that. At the start of the new school year, Xie Xiaoqi's parents are too busy, so they ask his uncle to take him to register at No. 2 High School. To avoid rush-hour traffic, his uncle follows the navigation onto a small road. But as they cross the Hong River, they are attacked by “drowned corpses.” Standing on the roof of the car, Li Tang repels the horde with a single move, “Ten Thousand Swords Return to Their Source,” then uses spirit talismans to suppress the corpses at the bottom of the river. Only then does Xie Xiaoqi realize his uncle isn't a fake mystic at all, but a cultivator with real abilities. However, after defeating the “drowned corpses,” his uncle jumps off the car roof, twists his ankle, and lands flat on his face. Seeing his uncle act so flippantly and unseriously, Xie Xiaoqi's admiration quickly fades. Still, “Ten Thousand Swords Return to Their Source” was so cool that he pesters Li Tang to teach it to him. When they finally reach the school and Xie Xiaoqi meets his seven roommates, he feels like the sky is falling: a scarlet nine-tailed fox, a red-eyed zombie, a vengeful ghost possessing a corpse, a flower spirit, a werewolf, a vampire, and, last but not least, one seemingly ordinary human whose arm tattoo marks him as the heir to a “Hunter” family.

This motley crew of nonhumans begins a chaotic school life at tiny No. 2 High School, a place full of hidden talents. And the reason they all ended up here may be tied to a deeper conspiracy.
