Unemployed, I Made a Fortune Hunting in the Mountains

Coding left him bald, and his mortgage bent his back. After losing his job, programmer Li Yang returned to his old home in southern Shu, worn out and unsure of what to do next. He never expected that the moment his phone fell into his family’s battered old basket, a voice would chime: “Ding! Mountain Foraging System successfully bound! Host: Li Yang. First mission: collect a hive of wild honey...” The vast mountains of southern Shu are shrouded in mist and filled with countless rare delicacies, treasures, and ancient legends. With the System at his side, Li Yang becomes a new-era mountain forager! “Ding! Discovered an F-grade mountain delicacy: termite mushroom. Reward: termite mushroom growth and distribution map! Dig it up!” “Ding! Successfully hunted 100 F-grade insect beasts: golden-ringed hornets. Reward: Beginner Bee-Taming Technique! A swarm of bees? They answer to me now!” “Ding! Explored the Eagle Beak Cliff ruins. Reward: one spirit pet space. There’s... something down there!” He harvests queen-ant honey from a copper irrigation ant nest, floods bamboo rat burrows to catch their fat kings, gathers immortal herbs from sheer cliffs, and fishes for dragon carp in deep pools... Life in the mountains is thrilling and prosperous. But as he ventures deeper into forbidden lands where few have ever set foot, lost ancient villages, moving shadows, ferocious beasts guarding secret treasures, and all manner of people coveting the mountains’ greatest riches begin to emerge... With a mountain-foraging whip in his left hand and the System panel in his right, Li Yang has beautiful women by his side: a gentle childhood sweetheart, a curious reporter, and a mysterious mountain maiden... He’s not just here to make his fortune in the mountains. He also intends to uncover their ultimate secret!
