If I Become a Demon, What Can Buddha Do to Me?

After returning from their pilgrimage, Tang Sanzang and his disciples are honored for their deeds. Sun Wukong is named the Victorious Fighting Buddha, but he longs for Flower Fruit Mountain and resolutely gives up his position to return home. The Heavenly Court, however, sees him as a threat and sends Erlang Shen to lead the heavenly troops in an assault. Flower Fruit Mountain is plunged into war. Though Sun Wukong fights with all his might, he is ultimately defeated by the Heavenly Court's schemes and the Golden-Hooped Band's restraints. His body and soul become the Six Roots, scattered throughout the Three Realms.

Many years later, a young Destined One appears. Once an ordinary hunter, he is told by a mysterious old monkey that he has been chosen to gather the Six Roots and revive the Great Sage. With doubts and a sense of duty weighing on him, he sets out on his journey. On Black Wind Mountain, he battles the Black Bear Guai, who is being coerced by the Heavenly Court, and struggles to obtain the Eye of Seeing Joy. At Yellow Wind Ridge, he defeats the Yellow Wind Sage and claims the Ear of Hearing Rage.

Along the way, he hears many stories of the Great Sage's past and witnesses the undercurrents stirring behind the Heavenly Court and Spirit Mountain. After overcoming countless dangers and gathering the Six Roots, the Destined One discovers that he himself is the crucial Will. When he returns to Flower Fruit Mountain, the Great Sage's body appears, but does not awaken. The body then transforms into the Golden-Hooped Band, time and space restart, and he is reborn.
