I Killed the One Who Loved Me Most

My mother died on a snowy day in 2024. She passed away without a sound, but I knew her death had something to do with me. Also known as Snow Falls in Silence, I Killed the Person Who Loved Me Most tells the story of Shen Zhao’s life, steeped in trauma and regret. She poured her resentment onto her mother through verbal abuse, blaming this quiet, long-suffering woman for all the hardships in her life. After her mother died of cancer, Shen Zhao found the love and guilt her mother had hidden among her belongings, and finally understood that her own cruel words had been the blade that killed her. From being violated by her aunt’s family to encountering a hypocritical boss and a rotten ex-husband, she was twisted by the harm she suffered, yet dealt the deepest wounds to her mother. After her mother’s death, Buddhist teachings helped her face her sins. Overwhelmed with remorse, she embarked on a path to redemption, spending the rest of her life making amends and protecting her daughter so the tragedy would not repeat itself. This is a heartbreaking story of harm and redemption.
