The Eastern Front of the War of Resistance Against Japan

By chance, the young Jiang Yu Jiao comes across a diary and discovers that it records the bloody history of the Eastern Front in World War II. In 1937, the Marco Polo Bridge Incident erupts, and gunfire at the bridgehead rouses the sleeping ancient city. Chinese soldiers take up rifles and charge at steel behemoths with explosives strapped to their bodies. Beneath the city gates, a blood-soaked officer waves his ancestral saber as he holds the line. A cook raises a cleaver and hacks at an oil drum; amid the flames comes one last laugh. In a field hospital, bloodstained cheongsams wrap the wounded as a woman doctor slips a tattered medical text into a crack in the wall, silver needles still tucked in her hair. Deep in the jungle, starving soldiers boil their belts to stave off hunger. One man bites into his own arm, yet still carries his unconscious comrade on his back. In a besieged city cut off from the world, civilians tear down doors to make stretchers, while a boy drags his broken body along the ground to deliver the last box of ammunition...
