Tales of Red Marks

In the seventeenth year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang dynasty, a veiled figure can always be glimpsed amid the sandstorms of Shanmu County on the frontier. The pea-sized red mark in Su Wan's left eye socket has been with her for as long as she can remember. Her parents say she was stung by a hornet as an infant, but the county's elders whisper behind her back that the mark looks just like the sign of the legendary "Blood-Eyed Demoness."

This story is entirely fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental.
