Su Wan's Transformation: Life Is Lighter Without Love

Su Wan once thought Lu Chengyu was a name carved into her destiny. Their first meeting among the stacks of old newspapers in the library, his confession with a ginkgo-leaf necklace, the sunsets they shared on the rooftop: she had brewed her whole youth into a flavor that belonged only to him.

Until the cold rain of graduation season, when he appeared in the news about an engagement party with another woman on his arm. All he left her with was the line, “That’s just reality.”

The day she burned every love letter, she happened to buy a lottery ticket, and won the jackpot.

When they met again, he was President Lu, chasing after her and begging to get back together, a diamond ring in hand as he stood outside her private estate.

Su Wan was watering the ginkgo tree she had planted herself. A drop slid from the tip of a leaf. “Mr. Lu, look. Without you, even the sunlight falls more freely.”

In the end, all the obsessions she once thought she couldn’t live without were no match for the words, “I don’t need love. I’m better off on my own.”
