Flute Notes Skim the Frost Moon, Shadows Follow

Xie Yue × Ling Shuang Xie Yue’s martial soul is the “Moon Blade.” On every full moon, it glows blood-red with a thirst for blood, its edge able to slice through any energy field. It carries an innate ferocity and aggression. Ling Shuang’s martial soul, by contrast, is the “Ice Soul.” A bone-chilling cold surrounds her, freezing all things. Even flowing soul power can be frozen solid, and her temperament is as cool as a glacier untouched by time. When they first met, the Moon Blade’s edge was repeatedly driven back by the Ice Soul’s chill, while the Ice Soul’s ice was often cracked by the Moon Blade. They clashed at every turn, each seeing the other as their most troublesome opponent. But after one confrontation after another, Xie Yue noticed that his Moon Blade instinctively avoided Ling Shuang’s vitals, while Ling Shuang always drew back its deadly cold at the last moment. As moonlight and icy mist intertwined during their sparring, the wariness born of opposition quietly began to grow into an inexplicable bond. He started to crave the brief peace brought by the mist, while she grew accustomed to the warmth of moonlight piercing the cold.
