(Coming-of-age story, not a power fantasy, ghost hunting, feng shui master, Republic of China era)
Hu Qisheng is the last feng shui master in the Hu family and its only son. He has yin-yang eyes and can see people's fortunes. At first, to protect their sole heir, his family refuses to let the protagonist inherit the mantle. But for various reasons, the family eventually relents. The protagonist's grandfather passes on everything he has learned, and Hu Qisheng lives up to his family's hopes, earning a far-reaching reputation and restoring the family's glory.
Just as the protagonist is making a name for himself out in the world, he thinks everything will continue to go smoothly. But after his grandfather dies, his father vanishes without a trace. No one can find him alive or dead. Eventually, the protagonist discovers that his father's remains are in the hands of the mastermind. The villain has mastered forbidden arts to preserve his youthful appearance and gain limitless power, sustaining himself by draining people's vital essence.
With no other choice, the protagonist secretly learns forbidden arts, uncovers their mysteries, breaks formations, and brutally kills the villain's forces to rid the world of evil.
Heaven and earth have yin and yang; yin and yang give rise to all things, and all things intertwine. Ghosts are not necessarily evil, and people are not necessarily good. Like a reflection in a mirror, one side and its opposite together maintain balance. Like flowers reflected in water and the moon reflected in the lake, all things go on without end. See both sides of everything, and don't be deceived by appearances. Everything has good and evil. If not for human actions, what would make ghosts what they are?
The structure is compact, the plot has ups and downs, and each chapter is fascinating and worth recommending.
