Echoes in Deep Gray

The world did not end in the flames of a nuclear blast, nor did it collapse amid the howls of zombies. The end began with a silent "Deep Gray Fog."

When the gray fog descended, the world was consumed by monsters known as "Phantoms." They did not devour flesh and blood. They erased existence itself. Anyone killed by a Phantom vanished from everyone’s memories, faded from photographs, and disappeared from written records, as if they had never been born into this world.

History was constantly being rewritten, and human civilization teetered on the brink of collapse. The survivors huddled in shelters called "Memory Arks," relying on special devices to preserve their shared memories and resist the fate of being forgotten by the world.

Yet on this desolate wasteland, a young man named Ling Feng discovered, on the brink of death, that he possessed an absolute defense against "forgetting": he would never forget.

When his companions’ names faded from everyone else’s minds, only he remembered their vivid faces and voices. When bustling cities vanished from maps without a trace, only he remembered the countless lights shining in their homes.

He became the world’s last "historian," its one and only "anchor."

To protect the memories that must not be forgotten and recover the loved ones who had been erased, Ling Feng set out on a path that would pit him against the entire world. In this rewritten apocalypse, remembering is the most defiant act of all.
