Rebooting the Gray Dawn

Ling Chen struggled for ten years in the apocalypse known as the “Gray Fog Era.” In the end, he did not die to mutated monsters or humanity’s cruelty, but after hope had been completely extinguished. When he buried his last companion with his own hands, he chose to end his life in the endless gray fog.

But death was not the end. He discovered that he had been reborn, not before the apocalypse, but as his ten-years-younger self: a boy who had just lost his entire family and was shivering alone among the ruins. The date was three months after the apocalypse began.

He had no head start on stockpiling supplies and no chance to save his family. All he had were memories of ten years spent living by the blade, and a heart long since soaked in gray despair.

But this time, he noticed that the world seemed a little different. Beyond the monsters that brought death, the gray fog seemed to conceal some forgotten “laws.” What had once been dismissed as useless “junk” might actually be the apocalypse’s true “oracle.” While everyone else fought desperately for canned food and weapons, Ling Chen quietly began collecting the “junk” people had abandoned: broken statues, rusted gears, and ancient books with blank pages…

He would no longer be just another survivor, but an “interpreter” and “repairman” of the new world. In this decaying wasteland, he would use the “junk” he gathered to restart a new dawn for himself and this world on the brink of collapse, a dawn that might still be gray, but would brim with endless possibilities.
