After a car accident, child psychologist Sang Ning transmigrates into 1975 as a widowed textile worker, and finds herself saddled with a five-year-old “burden.”
The original owner was weak and helpless, bullied by her in-laws, who even stole most of her late husband’s compensation.
Little Lu Xiangyang is as thin as a bean sprout, and looks at her as if he’s guarding against a thief.
Sang Ning slams the table and declares:
“So what if I’m his stepmother? I’ll raise him into a genius!”
“So what if I’m a textile worker? I’ll change the times with technology!”
And so, Qing County gains a legendary mother-and-son duo:
◎ Her son takes apart a radio to make an electric motor, catching the attention of a professor from the gifted youth program.
◎ His mother improves the efficiency of the textile machines, drawing experts from the provincial capital who come calling three times.
◎ When an invitation to the National Science and Technology Conference arrives at their doorstep, everyone who once mocked the “widow and her child” is left speechless...
“Mom, they say you’re not my real mom.”
Sang Ning crouches to meet the child’s eyes. “But I’ll love you more than any mother could.”
Xiangyang presses his little hand into her palm. “Then I’ll build a time machine and go to the future to buy you a big house!”
