War of Resistance: Unit Number Revoked? The Regiment Commander Becomes a Guerrilla Leader

Li Yimin was dumbfounded. He had just transmigrated when he discovered that, after a disastrous defeat, his unit had suffered such heavy casualties that fewer than one infantry company remained in the entire regiment. It was about to lose its status as a main-force regiment and become a guerrilla unit under the county government. “Sure, it makes sense, but I don’t want that!” If he could be a regiment commander, why settle for leading guerrillas? After awakening the System, Li Yimin was determined to preserve the regiment’s status with the more than one hundred officers and soldiers under his command. The First District’s commander exclaimed, “What? Li Yimin won ten battles in seven days and raised a force of 1,500? They’ve even got heavy and light machine guns, grenade launchers, and mortars?!” “Then why would we strip you of your designation? Keep being the regiment commander!” A county official said, “You’ve got it all wrong, comrade. Li Yimin isn’t the commander of a main-force regiment. He’s our county’s minister of armed forces and commander of the Independent Brigade!” Li Yimin said, “Commander, it’s not that I’m especially fond of commanding an independent brigade. I just wanted to challenge myself.” “Local force or main force, it doesn’t matter as long as we can fight the Japanese!”
