I Returned to My Alma Mater for the Anniversary Ceremony, and the Poor Student My Husband Sponsored Took the Stage in My Dress

On the day I returned to my alma mater for its centennial celebration, my assistant sent me a screenshot of a social media post: [I hope my girl has a smooth first performance onstage at eighteen.] In the photo, an unfamiliar girl wore my custom-made dress, standing backstage like a white swan. The post was from my husband, and he had specifically hidden it from me. I stared at the photo, about to message my husband and demand an explanation. The next moment, the girl appeared onstage at the school celebration, while I sat in the front row. She was dressed exactly as she had been in the photo, singing a song my husband had composed for me. After a moment's thought, I took out my phone, filmed her performance, and sent it straight to my husband: “Honey, what are the odds? I just spotted my missing dress and necklace at school.” “And this girl is singing the song you wrote for me.” “If I didn't know better, I'd think she was an obsessed fan of mine.” “Tell me, if I report this to the police right now, how many years could she get?”
