[Lighthearted comedy. If you don’t laugh within 25 chapters, feel free to send me a knife.]
The Heavenly Court’s finances have collapsed, and the gods are out of work and looking for new jobs!
The unlucky star Yi Fu (a homophone for “godfather”) is desperate to escape the Heavenly Court’s loan sharks and a fate spent cleaning toilets. Forced to livestream the sale of “good fortune (bad luck)” in the human world, he becomes famous by turning superstition on its head!
A pancake stall blows up? Good fortune has worked its magic!
A delivery guy gets milk tea dumped on him? A double dose of good fortune!
The God of Wealth’s PowerPoint gets struck by lightning? A perfectly targeted delivery!
From dark cuisine to esports jinxes, from staged-accident marketing to becoming the leader of a rebellion against the Heavenly Court’s toxic workplace culture, Yi Fu swings back and forth between courting disaster and trying to survive. He rallies a band of eccentric unemployed gods, including Sun Xiaosheng, the Thunder God, and the Matchmaker, to stick together, wreak havoc in the human world, and ultimately bring down the Jade Emperor’s loan-sharking conspiracy!
In a nutshell: Once the unlucky star starts livestreaming, every down-on-their-luck soul in the world comes running to call him Dad!
