(Carbon-based Hong Kong detectives + silicon-based steel-and-iron deduction + time-space cold cases + no CP, the perfect companion for meals and a laugh!)
Sheng Dong, formerly the head of the Serious Crimes Egg Tart Unit in West Kowloon,
now the owner of a Yau Ma Tei detective agency.
He takes any case, from catching cheaters to finding roast goose. His fee depends on whether the client's wife cakes are crisp enough.
His assistant, the "Justice of the Peace" (formerly known as Char Siu Bun):
scans and identifies gold beads, calculates interest on loan-shark debts,
keeps swallowing evidence as if it were fish balls, and sells curry fish balls to earn money for batteries.
"Boss, a goose swallowed the Miss Hong Kong gold bead!"
"Get me a roast goose rice first. I'll reward you with three fish balls for solving the case."
Fish balls from the Good Luck Tea Restaurant hide clues to a kidnapping.
Scratches on bootleg discs in Temple Street are a code.
A granny's missing Chinese sausage leads to a twenty-year-old feud.
Sheng Dong blunders his way to the right answer with "wild guesses + robot scans,"
sends criminals to the station, and scores himself a roast goose meal.
No one knows this wisecracking detective
carries a yellowed photograph in his pocket: twenty-four years ago,
his nephew Xiang Shaolong disappeared with a "time-space device,"
leaving a text that said "Going to ancient times to catch thieves," followed by a toothy grin.
Now strange cases are coming in: a goose that swallowed a gold bead,
an old newspaper bearing Xiang Shaolong's name, a time machine on the dark web…
The screen on Taiping glitches: "Time-space fluctuation, twenty-four years ago…"
"Quit your crap!" Sheng Dong slams the table with a roast goose leg in hand.
"Can this gold bead cover what I owe for fish balls?"
(Sheng Dong's monologue: The whole book is packed with Hong Kong-style food attacks and laugh-until-you-split scenes. The time-space cold cases will keep you turning pages! No romance, just solving cases and finding his nephew. If you don't like it, come flip over my vending machine!)
It's so good. This book is like my dream love letter. The language is witty, the characters are distinctive. The emotions are rich and delicate, the logic is clear, and the characters' IQs are online. I couldn't stop reading a chapter. I haven't skipped a chapter in a book for a long, long time. I love this book so much.
Very objective and detailed description
The more I watch it, the more I love it! The plot has ups and downs, and the sense of anticipation gradually increases, one after another! It makes people reluctant to put it down!
It's super exciting. Take your time to read it and don't want to skip the chapters. It's still unfinished.
It looks good. I'll open it and read it whenever I have time. It's very vivid and makes people's moods fluctuate easily with the plot.
Very well said, informative and gripping.
It's very interesting. It's my favorite type of novel. Thank you to the author for your hard work.
I kept following up and was fascinated by what I saw.
It's so well written, it feels addictive, give it to the author.
This book is good and worth reading. The author could have written more, but it is not enough.
