An Inheritance Worth a Fortune, Enough to Ruin Me

To make sure her childhood sweetheart could smoothly inherit the enormous fortune from his family, my CEO wife wanted me to agree to a sham divorce and leave with nothing of my own accord. She promised to give me a 50% stake in the company once I signed. Her childhood sweetheart eyed the divorce papers on the table and said jealously, “Mingyue, are you really going to give Jiang Huai the shares?” My wife sneered. “As if he deserves them. The share-transfer agreement he has is fake. Besides, with a brain like his, he probably won’t discover the truth even when he’s on his deathbed.” The man’s eyes shifted. “You’re not actually going to remarry him, are you? What would happen to me? You promised you’d marry me.” My wife paused, then scoffed. “That’s even less likely. Don’t worry. I’ll keep my promise to you. I won’t let you suffer.” Standing outside the door, I heard every word my wife said without a hint of shame. I glanced down at the leg she had broken when I refused to divorce her, then calmly pushed open the study door without a word. I didn’t make a scene. I simply signed the divorce papers. Seeing this, my wife smiled broadly. “I knew A Huai would understand. Take this transfer agreement. The paperwork will be done in three days.” I took it with a cold laugh. She had no idea that the so-called enormous inheritance her childhood sweetheart was due to receive was nothing but a glittering facade, its riches long since hollowed out. Once she married him, all that awaited her was ruin: she’d lose both her fortune and the man she loved!
