The Strange Case Files of Jinmen

Snow falls on a winter night in Jinmen. A man who neither ages nor dies arrives, carrying a century of solitude. His name is Yi Wuwang. He makes a living driving out evil spirits, yet cannot dispel the thousand years of emptiness in his own soul. Until one snowy night, when he comes across a young woman named Peng Yueyao being harassed by a thug in a narrow alley. She is like a blazing flame, burning straight through his lifeless existence. In Jinmen during the early years of the Republic, the city seems to be a stage for the clash between old and new ideas. But in the shadows, demons and evil spirits run rampant. A bloodstained embroidered shoe weeping in an old mansion, a soul-stealing painted-skin performer on the opera stage, forbidden magic controlling corpse puppets in a warlord’s residence... Behind each eerie case lurks a deranged heretic cultivator, driven mad by an obsession with immortality. She covets Yi Wuwang’s undying body and envies Peng Yueyao, the woman who brought light into his life, laying one deadly trap after another. When Yi Wuwang defies fate to protect the woman he loves, he discovers that the greatest calamity of all is his curse: every hundred years, he forgets everything. Many years later, he awakens in a new age with no memories, except for a strange pain in his chest. And when a young woman holding an oil-paper umbrella brushes past him, the raindrops falling from its edge seem to merge with the tears of blood shed beside the River of Forgetfulness a hundred years ago... A love that spans time, a destiny carved into flesh and bone.
