The Merchant’s Daughter Becomes a Phoenix: Power Plays in the Ledger

On a stormy night, modern-day auditing whiz Su Yunshu opens her eyes to find herself an orphan in the Great Yin Dynasty, sharing the name of her new body. First she is falsely accused of bringing bad luck to her father, has her engagement called off, and is thrown out with nothing. Now she is about to starve on the street? Hah! If they think she will accept her fate, they had better ask the ledger in her hands first! With the mind of a top auditor, a photographic memory, and modern financial expertise, Su Yunshu starts out balancing the books at a roadside stall. She uncovers false accounts, roots out moles, takes on wicked servants, and delivers face-slapping comeuppances to her vicious stepmother and scheming stepsister. Then she founds the Yunshu Accounting House and makes a name for herself in business. What is hidden in the pages of a ledger: a vast fortune, or a world-shaking political conspiracy? When a silk account leads to a shocking corruption and military-supplies smuggling case, she digs deeper step by step, only to draw deadly pursuers. At the critical moment, Fang Yanxiu, the refined and easygoing young gentleman who is always found on the teahouse's second floor, steps in to save her. He smiles warmly, but his eyes are unfathomable. “Miss Su, you can balance these books, but you may not see through the game behind them. Shall we work together? I'll give you protection and a platform, and you can help me... settle every unjust account in this realm!” From then on, the abacus becomes her sword, and the ledger her shield.
