The Spirit Returner

When a person dies, their soul leaves the body and becomes a “Soul.” If a Soul casts off its attachments and enters the spirit realm, it is called a “Return.” If it still has attachments, a mark appears on its chest. As the attachment deepens, the mark becomes a line that winds around it. When the line snaps, a shell covers it and it loses its original form, becoming a “Fallen.” A Return can separate part of its soul and turn it into a “Return Spirit Sword.” Those who wield these swords sever spirit marks, shatter spirit shells, and guide the Fallen back into the cycle of reincarnation through the spirit veins. They are called “Returners.”
