[Historical romance, faux siblings, not mutually exclusive firsts, political scheming and revenge, outrageous melodrama, highly fictionalized setting, no historical nitpicking]
Three years ago, Chu Yi, the eldest son of the Chu family of Jingzhou, was demoted to Jinzhou for his involvement in a salt-tax case. Chu Ning had secretly rigged things against him.
Chu Ning was seventeen at the time.
She resented this man for using underhanded methods and ruining the marriage she had schemed so hard to secure.
As he left Jingzhou, the man fixed her with a smiling gaze and said meaningfully, “Dear sister, seeking fortune amid danger doesn’t mean doing it the way you do.”
Three years later, Chu Yi returned to Jingzhou in triumph and married a beautiful young woman.
She thought the sordid affair between them had come to an end now that Chu Yi was married.
She had no idea this was only the beginning...
Chu Ning was used to playing the pig to eat the tiger, always thinking she had everyone wrapped around her little finger.
During the years she sheltered from the storm at the Chu family home, she was kind in public and in private, virtuous and gracious. She played the part so perfectly that even she began to believe she really was the Chu family’s Fourth Miss.
It wasn’t until that man forced her to bare her sharp fangs and slowly tore away her hypocritical mask that she understood the Chu family was no refuge for her.
If she wanted to climb the social ladder, she had to get rid of the shameless, immoral man standing in her way.
What she hadn’t counted on was Chu Yi returning to Jingzhou in just three short years.
“Dear sister, beg me, and I’ll teach you what it really means to seek fortune amid danger.”
[Black-hearted, outwardly sweet white lotus in a golden age vs. obsessive, petty villain]
P.S. The romance and the plot each take up half the story.
I’m certain there’s a trace of sincerity in your feigned affection for me.

I really like this type of novel. This short story can be extended [laughing and crying] because I am limited to imagination and cannot give the character something for the author. In fact, I have read some very good novels by be, but I don't like tragedies. I can imagine and rewrite it, but it still doesn't work because the character is not created by me.
It's beautiful, but why did it end like this?
Author, you are sure to give up. The writing is very good and beautiful. I hope the heroine can escape from the hero and make him regret it! Chasing his wife in the crematorium can torture the male protagonist
I like the books written by this author. The plot is compact and not sloppy. The characters' grudges are clear. I can't put it down after reading it.
Is this the end? Let readers make up their own minds. Let the heroine fly away.
