“Forgetting is the final act of mercy.”, White Crow
Those who look directly at the ones who perceive distorted reality either go mad or die. Lin Wan knows this all too well. As an archivist, she suppresses her perceptions and endures the agony of a thousand ants gnawing at her whenever she touches the forbidden. It is the price of her immunity to madness, and her secret.
On a rainy night, the mysterious antique dealer Chen Jin hands her an old photograph. The grotesque bird in the picture suddenly rolls its eyes. Through the searing pain, a whisper pierces Lin Wan’s mind:
“They’re rewriting your memories... including those of your ‘late’ mother. Listen to the White Crow’s whispers...”
Her peaceful life shatters. GCCC’s “cleaners” close in, and death follows her like a shadow. Seeking survival and the truth, Lin Wan steps into the Night Watchers, the shadowy organization behind Chen Jin.
But her search leads into an abyss:
A living weapon from an ancient civilization, created to fight “corruption,” lies dormant inside her. That is the source of both her immunity and her pain.
The ultimate threat is the White Crow, revered as the “Savior.” He promises to end all suffering, at the price of dragging humanity into an eternal, ignorant paradise of darkness.
The White Crow’s blade, the “Queen of Hearts,” sees Lin Wan as the perfect specimen for dissection.
As the White Crow’s whispers spread like a plague, tempting the world to sink into sweet oblivion...
Lin Wan stands at the breaking point: the agony of a thousand ants is both her shackles and her torch.
She must choose:
Embrace the painless nothingness promised by the White Crow?
Or cling to bloodstained awareness through unbearable pain, becoming a blade to pierce the lie called “mercy” and reclaim humanity’s right to “know,” even if it means burning herself to ashes?
When the White Crow whispers, is it the prelude to surrender, or the death knell of awakening?
