The Way of the Hearthline

Food is the key to the soul of a place. A true gourmet is not only a connoisseur of flavor, but also someone who experiences life, understands culture, and resonates with others' emotions. This story follows Meng Yungui, an office worker from a small northern city, who quits her job and heads south after her sense of taste goes numb and an emotional experience moves her. As she searches for the "ultimate flavor," she also seeks herself, learns to understand others, and gains insight into life. Through the stories of ordinary people and their commitment to tradition, craftsmanship, and human warmth, she grows from confused and awkward to confident and resolute, ultimately reaching a point where she can truly "savor" life.
