The Grave Robbers' Chronicles: The Second Young Master of the Wu Family

My name is Lin Zhou. I've been a fan of The Grave Robbers' Chronicles for ten years, read the novel eight times over, and can recite the TV and film adaptations by heart. After a car accident, I found myself inside the world I knew better than any other, as Wu Yiqiong's second son and Wu Xie's younger brother, a year younger than him.

Born in 1978, I was just a five-year-old toddler.

My big brother, Wu Xie, followed our third uncle, Wu Sansheng, all over the place, climbing trees and exploring tombs, as lively as a wild monkey. I followed our second uncle, Wu Erbai, learning manners, practicing calligraphy, and reading burial texts, so composed I hardly seemed like a child.

I knew everyone's fate: the Seven-Star Lu Palace, the Xisha Underwater Tomb, the Heavenly Palace in the Clouds, the Zhang Family Ancient Building... I knew Wu Xie would meet Zhang Qiling, change from the naive Wu Xie into Guan Gen, and embark on a road where he would narrowly escape death time and again.

But I was only five. I was afraid I'd break my leg just climbing over a wall.

All I could do was follow my brother, clutching the hem of his clothes, and be a quiet second son of the Wu family before those destined, heart-pounding events began. As for what came after...

Second Uncle said, "Some things can't be avoided."

Cicadas sang in Changsha, shadows fell beneath the old locust tree. This time, I would no longer be a spectator.
