The Marshal Tianpeng's Thousand-Year Deception

He was Marshal Tianpeng, commander of Heaven’s eight hundred thousand naval troops. After getting drunk at the Peach Banquet and flirting with Chang’e, he was struck down to the mortal world by the Jade Emperor.

> By mistake, he was reborn into a pig’s body and became a demon. He forced himself on a young woman at Gao Village, then was converted by Guanyin and joined Tang Sanzang on his pilgrimage west.

> Greedy, lustful, and lazy throughout the journey, he still came through with his rake to save his master at critical moments.

> He thought he would return to Heaven after enduring the eighty-one trials, but in the Hall of the Messenger of the Scented Altar, he discovered a shocking secret:

> The pilgrimage was an enormous deception jointly orchestrated by the Jade Emperor and Tathagata.

> A thousand years later, he was reborn as Zhu Huaijing, a struggling writer, haunted in his midnight dreams by the cold gleam of his rake and the waves of the Heavenly River.

> When he puts pen to paper and writes The Inside Story of the Journey to the West, bizarre events erupt around the world:

> Pig-bone fossils unearthed at the ruins of Gao Village stand up and walk on nights with a full moon.

> Worse still, an ancient, yellowed scroll appears on his desk. At the top, in Chang’e’s unmistakable handwriting, are the words:

> “Tianpeng, wake up at once!”
