The World Beneath the Pen

In the glass tank of his cubicle, Lin Mo is a fish watching numbers dance. Hidden in his notes are fragments of his escape to the deep sea: an elderly passenger helping someone on the bus, the lights of a convenience store late at night. In a corner of a café, Su Qing uses “the sea beneath my pen” to write about the evening breeze. Her unfinished words drift through the lines like the aroma of coffee.

They are ordinary people among millions, drifting between reality and words: office workers trapped by Excel, writers tormented by writer's block, people who fight the mundane with reading and clumsily record their heartbeats with pen and paper. Then comes the forum post that says, “It feels so good to be seen,” followed by a chance encounter in a café between a blue dress and a white T-shirt. The light slumbering in their notes suddenly illuminates each other's worlds.

This is no earth-shaking legend, but the everyday life that you and I have experienced: observing strangers' stories on the commute, telling yourself the truth beneath a desk lamp late at night, and meeting a kindred soul between the lines. When Lin Mo's “glass tank” meets Su Qing's “unsent postcard,” you'll discover that everyone has a sea in their heart, and every life recorded quietly shines.

Have you ever hidden unspoken words in your notes, too? This light is waiting for you to pick it up with us.
