You Want Me to Guard the Gate? The Whole Neighborhood Has Ascended

After cultivating the Dao for a hundred thousand years, Li Ping'an finally realizes that the Great Dao is simplicity itself, and that returning to one's true nature is the ultimate truth.

So he gives up all his cultivation and becomes an ordinary mortal. All he wants is to work as a security guard in the city and enjoy a peaceful retirement.

What he doesn't know is that he has already become the embodiment of the Dao. The breath he exhales is primordial spiritual energy; his sweat is nectar; even his offhand remarks are supreme Daoist teachings.

He takes a job as a security guard at Immortal Fate Residences.

Annoyed by a willow tree leaning crookedly at the entrance, he casually straightens it. Overnight, it grows into a towering Jianmu tree, attracting a phoenix to nest in its branches.

He sees that the mutt owned by one of the residents is looking lively and pats its head. That very night, the dog speaks human language and awakens its ancient Heavenly Hound bloodline.

He casually tells Old Zhang, who's playing chess, that “the world beyond the board is vast.” Old Zhang has an epiphany on the spot and shatters the void as he departs.

From then on, Immortal Fate Residences descends into utter chaos.

The ancestor of a top-tier sect: “Please, let me work as a cleaner here! I'll pay double the property fees!”

The peerless empress of the demon clan: “If you let me live at Immortal Fate Residences, I'll offer up every treasure my clan possesses!”

Li Ping'an is troubled every day.

“Why are all the residents in our complex so strange?”

“And can't the management do something about all those oddly dressed people crowding the entrance every day?”
