City Hero: The Bronze Compass

Chen Xiao, a Chinese special forces veteran turned antiques dealer, unexpectedly wins a Southern Song bronze compass at an auction.

After deciphering its markings, he discovers the coordinates of a shipwreck packed with books, but an international cultural relic smuggling ring comes after him.

From a high-speed escape through the rain-soaked docks of Hong Kong to crossing a cannibal tribe’s territory in the Philippine jungle.

Inside a Philippine cave, he unexpectedly reunites with seven classmates, and together they solve mechanisms that have remained locked for a thousand years.

At last, aboard a salvage ship in international waters, he activates the compass’s ultimate mechanism while under attack by mechanical sharks.

The shipwreck turns out to be an ark of civilization built to protect ancient texts, and the truth about its treasure upends everything everyone thought they knew.
