Lin Xia is an ordinary college student struggling under her family’s debts and working hard at a convenience store to make ends meet. She has a special ability to understand animals, but has always kept it hidden.
Her life takes a turn on an ordinary night, when Lin Xia finds an old phone that glows. A photo of her appears on the phone, with a date of 1985, followed by a bizarre countdown and a mysterious video warning that she will face terrifying consequences if she fails to complete her mission. Meanwhile, a string of supernatural events that defy common sense unfolds: the convenience store’s delivery worker vanishes, and objects mysteriously float in the air.
With help from Xiao Hei, a black cat, Lin Xia sets out to uncover the truth. As the countdown draws near, she encounters a mysterious man with a livid face. The phone can actually turn him into black mist and suck him inside. Then she receives a new instruction: go to an abandoned hospital in the west of the city. There, she discovers old records closely connected to her, which seem to hold clues to her mother’s disappearance. Then Uncle Chen, her neighbor, suddenly shows up. He appears to be helping, but plenty about him remains suspicious.
