A bizarre murder rocks Huaiyuan Residential Compound in Binhai City. The pattern on the locust-wood coffin beside the victim’s pillow matches the one on the bronze token left behind by Luo Wushuang’s father. She teams up with hacker Chen Mo, forensic examiner Su Qingyuan, ancient-text scholar Mo Xun, and veteran Zhao Lei to investigate. Their discoveries point to the Ghostworld Society, a black-market group dealing in cursed objects, and its Seven Fiends Yin Wedding Formation. Using locust coffins to suppress the seven souls, the group hopes to open the Gate of the Underworld and resurrect an evil entity.
Each of the five has a unique skill: Luo Wushuang uses martial radiance to subdue evil, Chen Mo uses intellectual radiance to crack codes, Su Qingyuan uses medical radiance to dispel curses, Mo Xun uses scholarly radiance to understand the past, and Zhao Lei uses heroic radiance to defend the formation. But they are caught in a family curse and a supernatural crisis. From paper effigies in an abandoned ancestral hall to blood-sacrificed rice dumplings in a mortuary, they must unravel the mystery of the locust coffin before the third quarter of the Xu hour, caught between modern technology and ancient arts, and stop a world-ending plot to throw yin and yang out of balance.
