Desire Sinks on a Spring Night

Dual purity + campus romance + forced love + reunion after a long separation + ill-tempered, lovesick heir + scheming, cool beauty When Wen Yiqian returned to China at eighteen, her breathtakingly beautiful face caused a sensation in the capital. That year, her uncle Zhao Yinian made a high-profile announcement that he wanted to arrange a marriage alliance, and the prospective groom was soon settled on: Duan Jinyan, a scion of an established family. Two years later, Wen Yiqian’s father passed away. At the funeral, Duan Jinyan bustled about, taking care of everything. All the capital’s wealthy families saw it and thought the couple’s future was all but settled. But when the funeral ended, a handsome young man with hair dyed granny gray drove up in a luxury car and blocked Wen Yiqian’s way. The young man looked at Wen Yiqian with a smile that never reached his eyes. “Long time no see, Miss Wen.” Huo Xingzhi, Wen Yiqian’s high school classmate from overseas. The eldest grandson of the Huo family, one of the country’s most powerful families, and a textbook rich young master. Ill-tempered, arrogant, obsessive, and impossible to placate. He grinned brazenly. “So you couldn’t wait to come back to China because you wanted to get married.” “I heard it’s an arranged marriage. Wouldn’t I be a better choice?” “I’m a hundred times richer than Duan Jinyan.” No one knew how a well-behaved girl like Wen Yiqian had gotten mixed up with him. But everyone agreed that Wen Yiqian was in for a rough time. Sure enough, the marriage alliance with the Duan family, which had seemed set in stone, was ruined by Huo Xingzhi. Then, on a spring night beneath a starry sky that seemed ready to crumble, someone saw the arrogant Huo Xingzhi accusing Wen Yiqian, his eyes red with emotion: “During the two years you were gone, I was dying.” “Qianqian, you said that if I got into the same university as you, you’d marry me.”
