In the early days of the Republic of China, Lijia Village on the bank of Heilongjiang was covered with snow and cold wind. Li Fu, an old farmer, and his family make a living by farming and raising chickens. Recently, the chicken coop has been repeatedly stolen by chicken thieves. Li Fu felt distressed and set up elaborate traps. One night, he successfully captured a white-faced weasel. Its face was as white as paper and its eyes were filled with malice. Li Fu killed it without expecting the consequences.
Soon after, the eldest son Li Gang went to cut firewood in the mountain behind the village. The clear sky suddenly turned cloudy, the wind howled, and a century-old tree fell suddenly, hitting Li Gang's legs, leaving him permanently disabled. The youngest son, Li Yong, was driving a carriage to a neighboring town to sell goods. On the way, the horses were frightened and ran wildly. Li Yong was unable to escape and was thrown out of the carriage. His head hit a boulder and he died on the spot. Li Fu's family was instantly shrouded in grief, and rumors spread in the village, claiming that Li Fu had offended the Huangxian and brought disaster.
