Following the previous installment, *The Courier's Strange Case: The Time Labyrinth*, Ma Xinsheng thought that escaping the time curse her father left behind would let her live an ordinary life as a courier. That is, until a stormy night when a corpse clutching roses burst out of a refrigerated delivery box and forcibly slipped a diamond ring onto her finger. The inside of the band was engraved with an unfamiliar date: June 1, 1999, the day of the fire that changed her father's life.
The romantic artist Chen Mu appeared like a timely shower. He fixed her car in the rain, tracing a heart with grease on his palm. He sent her a self-portrait, but the paint was mixed with the ashes of the dead. The engagement ring he gave her started a countdown to a debt of love the moment she signed for it. When a debt-collection barcode appeared on her abdomen, Xinsheng finally realized: poison was hidden beneath the sweet wrapping, and the person beside her in bed was the creditor come to claim her life.
The even more brutal truth gradually tore everything apart:
The talisman tattoo on Chen Mu's back was devouring her memories of love and turning them into his lifespan.
The fetus in her womb held a debt-collection device, and its first words after birth would be, “Mom, please repay the blood debt.”
Her younger sister Xia Xia was becoming transparent because her soul was being extracted every night to feed this conspiracy.
When Chen Mu put the baby in the refrigerated box, a roar came from inside: “Daughter! He's the real culprit who killed me!” Xinsheng's corroded right hand suddenly awakened. This time, she would tear out the poison, skin and thorns alike, even if it meant severing her own hand and forging her still-healing scars into a blade to cut through love.
When love is a delivery paid on receipt, as you sign for its sweetness, who hears the cold laugh of fate clicking its abacus?
