The Green Ox's Journey East

The Green Ox, Laozi’s mount, took advantage of a celestial attendant dozing off to sneak down to the mortal realm for a second time. Reborn as A Niu, a farm boy from Cuiyun Mountain, he grew up amid the ordinary bustle of human life, yet never let go of his dream of cultivating immortality and seeking the Dao. By a twist of fate, A Niu became a disciple of Daoist Yunxu on Mount Kunlun. After three years of arduous cultivation, he mastered the Daoist arts.

On the day A Niu completed his training, Daoist Yunxu entrusted him with a solemn mission: travel to Mount Penglai in the East Sea and retrieve the mysterious stone left behind when Nuwa mended the heavens. The stone contained astonishing divine power and was vital to the balance of the Three Realms, yet it had long since disappeared. Bearing this duty, A Niu set out. Along the way, evil spirits coveted the stone’s power and repeatedly laid ambushes, while treacherous peaks and violent waves blocked his path. But relying on his training and resolute nature, he survived forty trials between life and death, overcame every obstacle, and finally found Nuwa’s Heaven-Mending Stone. He not only completed his mission, but also transformed through his ordeals from an innocent boy into a cultivator, writing an Eastward Journey legend that shook the Three Realms.
