Half Misty Rain, Half Dust

In 1972, Su Huaiying was born into an ordinary farming family in Jiangbei Province. China had shaken off the smoke of war, but poverty still hung over the countryside. Three generations of his family had worked the land. His grandfather was bedridden year-round, and they struggled to make ends meet. The mark of poverty was etched into the boy’s heart from an early age. Wang Zhiwei, born the same year, also came from three generations of farmers. His father died young, leaving Wang Zhiwen and his mother to depend on each other. Su Huaiying and Wang Zhiwei were classmates.

In 1992, Wang Zhiwei passed the university entrance exam. After graduating, he entered government service and steadily climbed into leadership positions. Later, he was investigated for corruption and plunged to rock bottom.

The shadow of failing the university entrance exam did not hold Su Huaiying back. That year, the tide of reform and opening up was sweeping across China, and the breeze of new policies opened a smooth road of opportunity for those pursuing their dreams. With an unyielding determination, he resolutely left his hometown and embarked on a rain-soaked journey of entrepreneurship.
