My Mother-in-Law Is a Zombie

Chen Azhen is an ordinary antiques dealer whose life is uneventful, until he finds a mysterious jade hairpin in a secondhand shop and gives it to his wife, Zhang Xiaohui, as a birthday present. But the hairpin unexpectedly awakens his mother-in-law, Zhang Han, who has been asleep for many years.

Zhang Han is no ordinary woman. She is a zombie who has slept for a hundred years. Elegant and learned, she also harbors secrets no one knows. As Chen Azhen spends time with her, he discovers that she did not wake of her own accord: some force roused her against her will. More frightening still, his wife, Zhang Xiaohui, seems to have known all along and may even be plotting something in secret…

As Zhang Han and Chen Azhen grow closer, Zhang Xiaohui finally drops her disguise and reveals her true goal: she needs zombie blood to complete a ritual of immortality, and Zhang Han is the perfect sacrifice. With his wife’s betrayal and Zhang Han’s life in danger, Chen Azhen must enter the forbidden ritual site and fight against dark sorcery with the help of the Daoist Wang.

In the end, Chen Azhen faces a choice: should he fulfill his duty as a night watchman and destroy the zombie once and for all, or risk performing a purification ritual from an ancient text to save the woman he loves, Zhang Han? In this love between a human and a zombie that spans life and death, can true love overcome the curse?
