Dandong Soul-Suppressing Tower: A Mysterious Legend Beneath the Evil Shadow

This story is entirely fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental.

In 1937, Dandong, under the puppet Manchukuo regime, seems prosperous, but danger lurks beneath the surface. A fire at the Shengping Theater, whose entrance doors opened inward, leaves more than 800 people dead. Afterward, paranormal events plague the theater's former site. Every night, eerie opera singing and miserable ghostly wails ring out, shrouding the nearby residents in fear. To stabilize the situation, the Japanese authorities summon a mysterious eminent monk. After the monk chants sutras for 49 days, he builds a Soul-Suppressing Pagoda, and the paranormal activity temporarily subsides.
