An Exchange Student Arrives at Meng Academy

Xilisi, a mermaid from a distant sea, suddenly receives an invitation one day to attend Meng Academy as an exchange student. Help! Can someone tell a mermaid who has only just learned to walk upright why her first exchange-student lesson isn’t Magic 101, but a game of hide-and-seek with the Dark Overlord in the sewers? Xilisi swings her newly transformed human legs and stares in despair at Meng Academy’s noticeboard, plastered with “Do Not Feed the Mermaids” signs. The invitation clearly promised “meals, lodging, and schooling included.” It never said she’d have to moonlight sealing away villains! Even more absurdly, the school has a mysterious organization called the Meng Knights, a team of all-round fighters who apparently all eat their meals while injured. They say that gathering the five knights and the legendary Naya Princess will summon a seal-it-all package. But Xilisi has pored over every magic textbook and still can’t figure out how a lazy fish who can only blow bubbles is supposed to outwit the forces of darkness. When the Dark Overlord’s tentacles sneak off with her pearl hair clip, Xilisi finally gets it: this isn’t an exchange program at all. She’s been dragged in as a “human lightning rod”! Never mind.
