Dependency Syndrome

This is probably the story of a straight guy who ends up in a post-apocalyptic novel about superpowers, only for his ability to mutate and attract all kinds of characters and a System. I want to write some pretty messed-up characters. (This is just a flight of fancy, so the logic is a bit shaky. Please bear with me.) Here’s the serious version of the synopsis: There’s a kind of illness that makes you think about other people all the time. You want to hold them, kiss them, possess them, and be with them every moment without ever parting. This unhealthy dependence isn’t love, so it doesn’t just affect people of the same age or the opposite sex. Regardless of age or gender, anyone who contracts it develops an unhealthy dependence on him. This is the Dependence Syndrome, and it is Suian’s superpower. The clouds of Gaotang scatter, and the goddess of Wushan is gone. Only the desolate landscape remains to grieve, as the mighty winds have yet to cease. “Ode to the Wind,” Yu Jianwu, Southern Liang
