The Lazy Concubine's Rise to Power

Yu Zhi, a seasoned slacker from the cultivation world, wakes up to find she has become the mistress of Wen Jiuxiao, the third son of the Marquis of Wu'an in the Great Qing. The original owner was fair-skinned and beautiful, delicate and soft, a "gift" presented to the third young master by a local official.

Yu Zhi: "A kept woman? Food and lodging included, great pay, and a handsome boss? I can do this job until retirement!"

So she takes up the life of a contented slacker

✔ No rat race: If she can lie down, she won't sit; if she can play dumb, she won't show off.

✔ Workplace rules: Don't compete for favor, don't get involved in palace intrigue. The boss's satisfaction is the only goal.

✔ Perks: The third young master takes her along for free meals when he investigates cases, and back at the residence she gets massages and leg rubs too.

But as she keeps lying low, things gradually start to feel... off

❌ Her boss's gaze grows hotter and hotter (Wasn't he supposed to be cold and aloof?)

❌ Family pressure? He dismisses all the maids in his household (Yu Zhi: I'm just a mistress!)

❌ An imperial decree arranging their marriage? She climbs over the wall and runs away in the middle of the night (Wen Jiuxiao: My lady, it's windy up there. Why don't you come down and talk?)

The whole capital waits to see her humiliated

"A lowly mistress, fit to be a proper wife?"

"She'll be cast aside within three months, guaranteed!"

But later

✔ One year later, she's become the "lucky charm" the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review needs for every case.

✔ Three years later, they have a son and a daughter, and the first thing her husband says after court is, "Was my lady happy today?"

✔ Five years later, the noblewomen of the capital are all trying to figure out: "How does the 'Yu-style lazy wife look' keep Lord Wen so utterly infatuated?"
