The Bund in the Mist

The Bund Customs Wharf and the Wine Cellar of the French Consulate

The Japanese merchant ship Asagirimaru is seized for smuggling tungsten ore. Lu Chenzhou is ordered to investigate, but the Green Gang gets in his way. At a ball at the consulate, he discovers that a French military attaché and Japanese agents are passing intelligence through wine corks. Meanwhile, the map of Songhu defenses kept by the Green Gang’s Third Master has been replaced with a fake. Taking advantage of a raid on an opium warehouse, Lu Chenzhou sews the real map into the lining of a fur coat custom-made for the French consul’s wife, sending Japanese bombers toward fake artillery positions on the Huangpu River.
