Su Bai is a modern-day security guard, an honest, well-meaning man who has been cheated on by his girlfriend without realizing it and mocked by the neighbors. After work one day, he discovers her affair and gets beaten up. In a fit of rage, he smashes his family's mysterious heirloom jade pendant, only to be swept away by it into the turbulent, high-powered Great Qian Dynasty. When he wakes in a ruined mountain god temple, he finds himself not only gravely injured but also marked with a strange, dragon-shaped birthmark. The mark seems to resonate with the long-lost martial arts manual, the Ninefold Heavenly Dragon Art.
In Great Qian, three forces stand opposed: the crown prince's Imperial City Bureau and its Divine Machine Battalion, the major martial arts sects, and the mysterious Blood Shadow Cult. The factions scheme and fight over the Mountain and River Secret Manual, a book capable of overturning the balance of the martial world. Newly arrived in the jianghu, Su Bai becomes a target for every faction because he possesses a secret that may be connected to the Heavenly Dragon Art. Thus begins his journey through the martial world, where he meets the poker-faced heroine Song Feixue, Tang Xiaoyou, daughter of the Thief Saint, and his lively, adorable junior sister Lu Linglong. Fate brings the four together as a makeshift team. They support one another through clashes of blades and sparks of romance begin to fly.
As his investigation deepens, Su Bai discovers that his transmigration was no accident, and that the ancient jade hides a startling secret capable of rewriting the fate of the martial world. The so-called Ninefold Heavenly Dragon Art turns out to be a spatial key that opens various martial arts treasure vaults. As the factions wage deadly battles to seize the secret manual and martial arts treasures, Su Bai must choose between staying true to himself and mastering his power. Can he unravel the mystery of his origins and carve out his own legend in this treacherous martial world? The ultimate battle, one that will determine the fate of the martial world and his own destiny, is slowly drawing near...
