On a rainy night, Lin Ye finds a soaking-wet silver-haired little girl, Illya, outside a convenience store in Wuhan. She says she’s “here to retrieve a magical device,” but before fainting, she declares, “You’re my familiar.” As they begin living together, Lin Ye discovers that Illya’s black cat plushie can talk and her desk lamp can float. Then, during a contract ritual on the rooftop, a “nonconsensual first kiss” triggers a magic circle. It turns out he is the reincarnation of the “Sky Magus” from a century ago, while Illya is a descendant of the Kuro forest family, cursed to remain in the form of a little girl.
