On the frontier of the Great Chu Dynasty, Xiao Chuge, a descendant of the Xiao clan of Blackiron Mountain City, awakened his bloodline. Once the greatest prodigy in the Martial Domain, he was framed by his sect's Grand Elder because he possessed the Blackiron Ring, which could absorb the essence of heaven and earth to accelerate cultivation and condense blade intent. His cultivation was crippled, and he was expelled from the sect. Disguising himself as a down-and-out swordsman, he roamed the martial world. With the help of the "demoness" Su Daji, the quirky heroine Gu Qinghuan, the gentle physician Lin Wanyue, and his loyal servant A Qing, he swept through challenges from various sects by playing the fool to catch the tiger, while investigating the truth behind his family's massacre. Along the way, he reunited with his sworn brother Lu Shaoyou, exposed the Grand Elder's plot to collude with the Regent and usurp the throne, and, when the "Ninefold Heavenly Tribulation" descended, turned the tide with the "Nine Vaults Blade Intent" condensed by the Blackiron Ring. In the end, he ascended to the rank of Martial Emperor, won the heart of his beloved, and protected his country and its lands.
