On the very day Yu Zhao remarries, her former husband Huo Wangchen, who was supposedly killed in battle three years ago, returns in triumph with glorious military achievements, turning her marriage to a frail scholar into a laughingstock.
After the wedding, Huo Wangchen brings a beauty to see her. “Yu Zhao, you only had to wait one more day to become the Marquis’s wife!”
Fu Hanzhou lowers his eyes and inclines his head. “My wife covered the Huo family’s expenses for three years. Marquis, settle your debts first, then we can discuss anything else.”
Huo Wangchen turns the accusation around. “Yu Zhao, so you really did have ulterior motives all along!”
Fu Hanzhou pulls out a thick stack of IOUs and indignantly replies, “My wife has always behaved with propriety, cared for her parents-in-law, and covered the household expenses. We have witnesses and evidence. How could she have ulterior motives?”
Huo Wangchen flees in disarray.
Everyone mocks Yu Zhao for trading a watermelon for a sesame seed by remarrying, but she says, “Good thing I threw away that rotten watermelon. Otherwise, I never would have found a treasure.”
There is no rating for such a beautiful book, so I will give it a respectful rating first. The book describes the life of the heroine after divorce from another perspective. It is very novel and I personally think it is very interesting.
The author's writing is very good, smooth, precise and not verbose! The plot is described with a sense of familiarity, fascinating and interlocking. It is very interesting and recommended!
