The Underworld Spa

I put special services on Meituan:

Grudge-Cleansing Massage, 199; Obsession-Dispelling Cupping, 499; Blissful Afterlife SPA Package, 999. Our bad-review rate has stayed at zero. After all, every customer who’s tried the service is now lying quietly in a funeral home freezer.

That is, until I took over the case of the female corpse at Jiang University. As I used a peachwood scraping board to work over her stiff shoulders and neck, the entire body suddenly convulsed and began singing a nursery rhyme. Her chest cavity opened on its own, revealing a clay urn inscribed with her birth date and time. The cinnabar smeared across the bottom of the urn was the very formula I had personally concocted for my soul-calming incense.

“Technician Lin, your VIP room is ready.” The midnight call to book a room came with the familiar sound of chains dragging in the background. The security footage showed the number belonged to Mortuary Drawer Three, where the body lying inside was the funeral home director who had just given me a five-star review yesterday.
