Personally, I feel my earlier xianxia works were just straightforward power fantasies. This time, I’ve started a new account to write the cultivation world I’ve always envisioned. The first 100,000 characters will have a power-fantasy opening so the algorithm can send it a little traffic. The cultivation that comes later is what I really enjoy writing. As an old hand, I’m pretty sure this approach will make the book flop, but I still want to write the kind of cultivation world I believe in. I wonder how many readers, or fellow Daoists, share my outlook. For now, just let me write the book I want to write. (If you want to flame me, go ahead.
