The Imperial Physician in the Modern Age: Zheng Chen's Medical Journeys Through Time

During the Jiajing era of the Ming dynasty, Zheng Chen, head of the Imperial Medical Bureau, is struck by lightning while developing the “Panacea Ointment” and wakes up in Jiangcheng in 2023. Modern medicine relies on diagnostic equipment, but he uses “inspection, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking” to identify illnesses. Western medicine focuses on carefully measured ingredients, while he trusts the traditional formula of “chief, deputy, assistant, and envoy.” When acupuncture meets CT scans and pulse diagnosis clashes with electrocardiograms, a funny and moving tale of Chinese and Western medicine turning the tables begins.
